HLX Makes Open Source SMART on FHIR & CDS Hooks Templates Available to Healthcare Payers & Providers

OFFERING ACCELERATES IMPLEMENTATION OF SMART ON FHIR AND CDS HOOKS APPLICATIONS

GRAFTON, WI (November 5, 2019) –HealthLX announced today that its SMART on FHIR and CDS Hooks templates are now available to payers and providers as open-source code. The healthcare interoperability leader is the first to offer free templates for SMART (Substitutable Medical Applications and Reusable Technologies) on FHIR applications and CDS (Clinical Decision Support) Hooks applications. SMART and CDS Hooks are fundamental specifications within HL7 standards.

HealthLX is a founding member of the Da Vinci Project. Through its work with Da Vinci, HealthLX developed code that can shortcut the development process for anyone who needs to deploy these types of applications. “A large majority of payers and providers will need SMART on FHIR apps and CDS Hooks apps within the next year to meet mandated requirements for patient access to personal health information,” said Charlie Provenzano, COO of HealthLX. “These templates allow for the rapid implementation of these apps without repetitive coding steps.”

“As an independent managed services provider at the forefront of FHIR interface development, we have the freedom to make our code open source,” said Will Tesch, CEO of HealthLX. “Making these templates free and available to everyone is one of the ways we put our commitment to moving healthcare interoperability forward in the United States into action.”

HealthLX has released its templates under an Apache 2.0 license. They are completely open-source and include documentation. All members of the FHIR community are encouraged to use these templates and to contribute to their development. Access the SMART on FHIR and CDS Hooks templates at:
